Let’s call the total $1,000 for easy figuring and to be extremely conservative.
The pass rate is about 65%, probably lower.
Let’s call it 66 2/3% for easy figuring and to be extremely conservative.
$1,000 divided by 66 2/3% equals $1,500.

The average cost of passing one Institute is at least $1,500, probably much higher.

     300.                                hotel accommodations
     100.                                food and drink
     300.                                value of your time
 $1,000.                               total expenses*

$1,000 (total expenses) divided by 66 2/3% (pass rate) = $1,500 per Institute passed, probably much higher.

Why should you buy CIC preparation material?

To earn your CIC designation, you must attend 5 three-day Institutes and pass the exam for each.
The average pass ratio is under 65%, making the average total cost over $1500 per Institute passed.

You’d feel more confident if you had a basic sense of the material that would be covered.
You’d enjoy your Institute experience even more if you could have more time to network and socialize.
Now you can attend your CIC Institute with greater understanding, more confidence, and have more time to network when you prepare ahead of time with The Burnham System.

Culliton and Fanning, LLC, CPAs, determined my CIC students' six-year pass ratio (2001-2006, inclusive) was 98.83%.

You should buy my CIC preparation material for the simple reason that you'd prefer your chance of failing to be under 3% than over 30%.

It is that simple.

You’d feel more confident if you had a basic grasp of the material that will be covered.
You’ll enjoy your Institute experience even more if you have more time to network and socialize.

Now you can attend your CIC Institute with greater understanding, more confidence, and have more time to when you prepare ahead of time with The Burnham System.

What is The Burnham System?

Executive Summaries

I developed The Burnham System for the CPCU courses when I earned that designation in 1976.
I created the very program I wished I’d had available to me when I studied.
My outlined summaries have helped tens of thousands of candidates earn CPCU and other specialty designations.
Since I started offering The Burnham System for CIC, my CPA reports my CIC patrons have had a pass ratio over 98%.

What does The Burnham System for CIC offer?

A learning key to the mandatory topics

Mandatory topics comprise about 85% of the CIC program.

There is tremendous agreement among great teachers and experts regarding the essentials of every subject and what should be tested.

CIC instructors are experts in their subjects and great live presenters.
CIC educational consultants are experts in the topics that will be covered and in test design.
I am an expert in the subjects and in designing printed educational materials.

Simply, every CIC presentation is unique, but your instructor, the educational consultant, and I most certainly agree on the essentials of what you need to know of every mandatory CIC topic.

Why I exclude the optional topics?

I chose not to cover the optional topics for three reasons:

  1. The mandatory topics are more important to you--that's why they're mandatory.
If I included the optional topics, any time you spent studying them would be taken away from the time you'd spend studying the more important mandatory topics.

  2. Optional topics focus more on those topics which are in a state of flux, topics where the experts are less likely to agree on essentials.

  3. There are 6 to 8 optional topics per CIC Institute, yet only 1 or 2 are covered.
I don't want you to spend your valuable time studying the wrong material for your particular Institute.
