Frequently Asked Questions

What Burnham System Patrons Ask Us About The Burnham System

How can I succeed in insurance?

If you want to succeed in insurance, you must continue your education.  How?  Simple!
The Institutes offer the best, learn-at-home, property-casualty courses anywhere.

What is The Burnham System?

The Burnham System summarizes and outlines your texts to provide you concise, to-the-point, time-saving executive summaries.

The Burnham System printed format averages 62 bound pages per course.

Most courses provide answers to the Review Questions, definitions of the Key Words, and a sample exam.

Our audio CD format is the same information (provided to reinforce and maximize your retention).

Each audio assignment narration is about 25 to 40 minutes. (Sample found on CPCU order page)

The Burnham System executive summaries will cover at least 97% of the material on your exam.

The Burnham System usually covers 100% of the material on your exam.

Why use The Burnham System?

First, you’ll pass.  Guaranteed!
Independent studies done at Carnegie-Mellon for the US Government compared retention of text material versus retention of text summaries.

Students who studied text summaries consistently demonstrated improved

retention,

direct learning,

inference learning,

transfer learning, and

recall and response times.

Surveys from Burnham System patrons consistently show candidates cut their study time in half and have much higher pass rates.

When asked to rank the various CPCU®/IIA study methods, here’s what candidates like you who’d used at least two methods said:

                                     Method                                          Best (1996)    Best (2004)

The Burnham System                                            85%               93%

All Other Published Aids, Combined                       4%                 4%

Class                                                                       9%                 3%

Self-study                                                                2%                 0%

Averaging those two surveys, average preparation time dropped from 9.36 to 4.27 hours per week -- that’s 81.44 hours over a 16 week term, equivalent to two weeks vacation!

Did you see how the best got better … with all other methods, combined, down from 15% to 7%?

What about your pass rates?

BIG NEWS!

98.4% was the average reported pass rate in Ray’s 2006 survey … so unbelievably high Ray hired a CPA firm to audit and certify the results.  (Ray wanted to get an independent, unbiased result.)

For all of 2001-2006, for all of Ray’s students, they calculated greater than a 97.5% pass rate.

Whether you trust independent, unbiased CPAs or Ray’s survey more, either way, don’t you owe it to yourself, your family, your customers, your employer, our industry, and our nation to pass your course and not take silly chances by using some less-effective method?

The average pass ratio for all candidates is about 71%!
